Monday 6th December 2010
Monday Night: Today was gorgeous, we reached 22C up here on the mountain, currently it's 20C at midnight..... Well I am so glad my Mum got to see this contrast, she has heard about it enough! It was barely above freezing a week ago when we arrived, so dark and cold and I am in my shirt sleeves tonight.
Today is a public holiday in Spain, but the restaurants are allowed to open..... We drove down the mountain to Calpe using only the back roads which took us through our neighboring village and although almost identical to ours, it has had the misfortune of having the motorway built through it.... but you don't notice that and it's a really pretty drive........
I had never been to "the port" of Calpe before, well I had sort of, but not to the best bit.... Anyway I dropped Chrissie and my Mum off in the area I knew, then I went off in search of a parking place..... Calpe was packed, I ended up parking a few of blocks away in a large free car park......
I found my way back to the port and went down some steps which led to a small beach, I had never been to this area before, it was lovely, I had no idea... God knows where I was though! But thank goodness for mobil phones! Fortunatly Chrissie seemed to know where I had ended up and we soon met up again........
Here's Mum (without her cardigan) in December, on the beach... it's at least 18C..... and look how dark those "reacta-lite lenses are.......
In the "port" with the Ifach behind.....
Chrisse had been here before with Beccie and they had both recommended a certain fish restaurant. It seemed to be the most popular one as it was totally packed, there were plenty of spaces in one next door, not a good sign, luckily someone got up just in front of me and I managed to nab us a table in the sun. The only downside was that because they were so busy, our meal was a while arriving, it was very good, but the sun had gone down a bit and the breeze was getting a little nippy by the time we had finished, albeit still 17C.
Now the wind has dropped, it's still 20C out there, the forecast is for this to continue for a couple more days......
