    Thursday Afternoon:

Please if you want to follow me, use Facebook, this is almost impossible to use now.... Looking for a new blog site......

I had a bad accident a couple of weeks ago, I fell through the front door window, cut my hand in half, cut the nerves, tendons and artery to my thumb, my atheritis braclet on my wrist stopped me severing the main artery, but I did slice the main vien.... needless to say I was loosing a lot of blood and it was a bit of a panic to get me to hospital quickly!

I had a 2 1/2 hour emergency operation, but now my arm is in plaster for a month, so not able to do much..... no driving, playing musical instruments, flying... (well a little) I have been very tired for the last two weeks with the antibiotics too, but have finished those although it is all starting to get a lot more painful....

Monday Night: Can't believe I've been away so long..... Happy Birthday Mum, 84 today, good old Lucas genes in you!

Chrissie went to Engalnd tonight Daniels getting Married Saturday and we've been fucking inudated with this for the few short weeks we've have had to try to sort all our details .... I'm the Music, but my gears here, so I had to make all the backing tracks because I don't want to risk my gear. They will play from my tablet, but to do it took ages..... There were also a large number of pictures to digitize, that's where I been.

Thought we were going to get a break
when Beccie postponed her wedding for a year, but then Daniel decided to get married with just 7 weeks notice almost simultaniously..... For Chrissie, the mother of the groom, this is not enough time and to complecate things, Beccie is also a bridesmaid. They tried to get Daniel to discuss his ideas to no avail, so in the end time ran out and they had such a job finding something here, finally in old town of Benidorm.... They are great dresses though! Unfortunatly Daniel has a reputaion for leaving things to the last second, (Chrise didin't have a bed until we got to the airport tonight, so far it's a single, could be cosy lolol. ) But hey - this is Daniel.

It's been 5 days since I went in a shop
    - I swear there is such a difference, but is it only me?  I do feel better so with some energy and a few days on my own - maybe a new plane - a Skylark Mk2? ....jest I not! lolol

Thursday Afternoon: Warm with high cloud, 25C and breezy. It has been breezy for the last few days, but there have been a couple of times when the wind dropped and I could fly. This week has been warm, but last week was cold and windy.

After it's crash, the motor in the Skylark has been sounding a bit rough, the prop driver was slightly bent although the prop was running true and it was still able to fly. I ordered a replacement prop driver with a spinner with the intention of adding a small amount of weight to the nose as I thought the model was slightly tail heavy.

The new prop driver/spinner sits a little further forward too as well as looking really good, but the difference it has made to the model is incredible! The motor is running silently again, just the faint wurr of the prop, but the main difference was the weight shift. The model is designed to balance on the main spar, which it nearly was as it was sitting level, but the ideal is for it to sit slightly nose down. The spinner weighs about an ounce (25g) and this has moved the c of g forward ever so slightly with astonishing results.

Before I always felt the model
had a tendency to want to drop a wing, although it never did, it also needed a little down trim to fly level, but now it simply will not stall, it just wallows and only climbs genlty under power. This has made the landing approaches feel much more controllable and safer.

I had waited a couple of days
for a calm spot and it was warm, calm and cloudy yesterday morning, perfect. I had to hand launch as the grass was too long to take off and immeadiatly noticed the difference as the model climbed gently away. I mowed the runways again in the afternoon, it is growing so fast at the moment.

Last night the air became calm again
and it was still very warm at 25C which made it thick and buoyant and I enjoyed flying three of the models including Skylark.

Sunday Night: Very cold, 6C wet and windy, colder than in the winter. The weather changed last Monday and has just got worse since, the pool is brown again, which pisses me off because I had just got it really clean following the last red rain.

    Monday was Chrissie's birthday
so Beccie came up here and we went to Sussie's restaurant over the mountain for lunch.

    The band were getting ready
to play and suddenly turned towards us and began to sing happy birthday to Chrissie.....

    The band
    play for us.......

We had a lovely meal and a really nice day.

We all went down to Jalon on Tuesday, I had a hair appointment and Beccie wanted to see Lue, who is her old boss, to catch up. Afterwards we had a tostada then went on to Benissa to get the post.

We went to Calpe on Wednesday to have a look at some garden furniture and go to the bank, we parked near the bank and ended up walking to the sea front for lunch.

We went food shopping on Friday. The weather has been unsetteled all week and it has been wet and cold since Thursday.

Sunday Morning: Today started out clear and sunny, although it has clouded over again now. yesterday and Friday were much cooler at 14C than the rest of the week which had seen temperatures in the low 20's even up to  24C Thursday afternoon. We had to go to Javea early Monday morning to visit an office in the old town, which is a maze of narrow lanes, far too small for cars, so we had to park and walk in. Very pretty though.

There was a misty low cloud
covering the sea and causing fog to form a way little inland on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but up here we enjoyed the warm sunny and nearly calm conditions. Needless to say I did have a number of flights during the week, as well as continuing to clean the pool, which incidently reached 22C on Thursday afternoon and mow the terrace, which now looks like a lawn.

    Wednesday and Thursday
evenings I flew Skylark for 18 and 16 minutes repectivly, landing with an average of 3.84V remainaing in each cell of the battery, which means she could saftly streach to 20 minute flights in calm conditions.

This morning I went out early to take advantage of the unexpected calm and sunny start to the day and flew each of these models, The Skylark, The Pioneer and the Bixler before the easterly wind began again.

  • Sunday 14th April 2013

Sunday Evening: Today has been mostly clear and sunny, 23C with a moderate north easterly breeze interrupted by thermals. Late in the day a small front came up from Africa causing some cloud to form in the West.

The Bixler waits on the terrace
for the wind to drop indicating the presence of a thermal. Shortly after the picture was taken it did just that. I launched and was instanly carried upwards, the model was going up so fast I began to get nervous, I had never been in a thrmal this strong before. The model grew smaller and smaller, then after a couple of minutes of flying circles I noticed it was getting larger again and as the model slowly decended the wind came back. After that I needed the motor to keep the model flying and to hunt for another thermal/ I have had a couple of flights this afternoon, the hasn't dropped as expected later though.

    Here is Benji
    relaxing in the courtyard.

Here are some pictures taken this morning in the mountian terrace.

Tuesday Afternoon: Clear and sunny yesterday 20C with an easterly wind, today is sunny and warmer at 22C with a westerly wind, which may or may not calm down later. We had to go to Javea this morning, then we did the shopping in Benissa on the way home.

This afternoon I mowed the top terrace to keep it looking good......

I usually take off from here so I need the grass/weeds short for that, then I land on the larger lower terrace, which I also partly mowed. In this picture, the building on top left is Maria's restaurant.
