Monday Afternoon: Cool, clear and sunny, very windy although it is calming down at last now, 14C. The wind has blown relentlessly for three days, thundering into the west side of the house day and night. It's these winds that are the death of the plants in the courtyard, if it wasn't for the blind acting as some sort of damper we would have lost the cucumbers by now and the peppers are all suffering with wind burn. I did harvest another tray of tomatoes on Friday and Chrissie made them into a stock, the recent warm calm weather was enough to ripen some of those still left on the last vine......

We have for the first time in ages, the choise of watching UK TV this year, inevitably we have become embroiled in the annual X Factor/Strictly come dancing weekend routine. I guess I have a greater interest in X factor because I used to run singing competitions with Starmaker, but this year is frustrating. A large selection of the British public seem to find it amusing by voting for utter crap, (or at least I hope that's the reason) but if this Wagner/Anne Widicome charade continues at the expense of any more real talent, I fear these shows will loose what little credibility they have left ....

I took Simba to the vet for his follow up examination, which lasted all of 10 seconds....... He has to have a tablet a day for the next ten days and he has to go to the vet again on Thursday, but he is much better today and is eating like a horse. He also went out for the first time in a week this afternoon, so I guess he feels better too.

I had to make two trips down the mountain today because I didn't want to leave Simba in the car for as long as the shopping takes, so I bought him back and went straight back down to town.......

When I got back I noticed Amber was playing with something, then I saw her looking frantically around as though she had lost it........

Check out her collar, no it's not some new fashion accessory, it's a locust clinging to her collar, no wonder she couldn't find it!

  • I think that you are missing the point Chris.  The reason that Wagner keeps surviving is that there is a large internet fuelled movement to discredit the show (and Simon Cowell), for everything it stands for; namely using people.  This year is by far the worst ever.  There is no one with any talent at all and, quite frankly, the show has run its course.  The only one who can sing in tune is Mary but she is as fat as a Hippo so no chance there.

The Anne Widdicombe is simply because she makes people laugh.  It is very entertaining and as there is no prize at the end of it, so what.  I feel sorry for Anton.  He certainly earns his money dragging her carcass around the floor week in and week out!

  • I know this will fall on deaf ears BUT do Wagner protesters realise that by voting for him they support the show and make it more popular? It doesn't annoy Simon at all, it makes him more money!
